I was born 1985 in Offenbach am Main, Germany and received my “Abitur” certificate (=A-levels) in 2004. I then moved to Düsseldorf where I started to study "Literary Translation" in English, French and German. After some time I changed my course of studies and received a bachelor's degree in both English and German language and literature.
During my time at university I had the opportunity to do a semester abroad in Nantes (France) and travelled around Great Britain/Ireland. I also took part in a practical training at the Translator’s Council in Straelen.
In addition, I worked as a freelance teacher at the "Schülerhilfe" institution for private tuition in Düsseldorf from 2006 until 2011 and also worked as a private tutor on the side.
After my studies in 2010 I went into business for myself as a freelance translator and have since
worked for numerous agencies and companies. In addition I translated the novel "Nine-Tenths" by Meira Pentermann in 2012 and 2013 worked on the translation of numerous Marvel comic books as
well as French romance novels. In 2015 my German translation of the memoir "Solacers" by Arion Golmakani was published.
Since 2011 I also work as a teacher and supervising tutor for the "Beseke & Oertel – Partner Company for Learning Skills".
In 2012 I moved to Cologne where amongst other things I worked for „ZukunftPlus“ for two years as a tutor for theoretical knowledge transfer of the subjects
German, English and application practice.
Since 2013 I now work as a German tutor at "Privatakademie - Institut Dr. Rampitsch" and prepare the pupils for their external school leaving examination.
In general, I care about being able to work equally as a translator and a tutor as both professions complement each other perfectly and balance each other out. Teaching has accompanied me since my school days and has always filled me with enthusiasm, whereas the creative and practical aspect of translating always fascinates and challenges me.
You can find detailed information about my work experience and current activities in the section "CV" and in the respective categories "Teaching/Tutoring" and "Translating".
